Grade Check Policy Please read below to find out how you may request a grade check for your student.Starting October 1st, the counselors will be taking requests for grade checks. In order for a student to receive a grade check, a parent must contact the counselor and have the academic need (2.5 GPA or lower). The parent and counselor will schedule a meeting before school to meet with the student and all his/her teachers. During this meeting, the expectations of each class will be discussed, as well as the student’s responsibilities. At the end of this meeting, the student, parent, counselor and teachers will sign an agenda/grade check contract, which will allow the student to receive grade checks every other Thursday. (See dates below) These grade checks will be the student's responsibility to pick up, take to each of their teachers for a signature and return home with it every other Thursday. We ask that parents review it with the student that evening, sign it and have the student return it the following Friday to a counselor. If a student is absent or forgets their grade check on grade check Thursday, they will need to wait until the following grade check Thursday to complete a grade check. Students will not receive a grade check any other day except on the normal grade check day. The grade check contract is good for one quarter. At this time, any student who needs to continue on a grade check due to poor grades will need to have another meeting to re-evaluate the barriers that students may be facing. Our district is currently working to implement a Parent Portal that will allow parents access to their student’s grade via the internet. Once this portal is up and running, we will no longer offer paper grade checks.
